Tech website CNET says the automaker based it on the new electric G-Class Mercedes-Benz, specifically designed for the Pope’s needs.

Mercedes Development Engineer Peter Zotter described the EV as “a unique piece with all the features.”

Despite the 2025 Popemobile’s modern touches, it maintains traditional features.
For example, it is white and has the license plate SCV 1 (State of Vatican City).
“With this Popemobile, we are also sending out a clear call for electro-mobility and decarbonization,” said the Mercedes-Benz CEO.
The German automaker has been manufacturing papal vehicles since building a Nürburg 460 Pullman Sedan for Pope Pius XI in 1930.
